Clarisse navigates her boat safely to the Azores
At 20h30 local time today Clarisse arrived at the Marina da Horta, onboard her IMOCA L’Occitane en Provence. Four days after discovering significant damage to one of the bulkheads and after consultation with the race directors and her team, she decided to head to the Azores as the nearest port. Despite a difficult sea state with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 4 knots she managed to keep the affected area stable and bring her boat to the mid-Atlantic archipelago of the Azores.
With Clarisse and her IMOCA now safely docked in Horta, her racing in the Transat CIC is temporarily suspended. Meanwhile her technical team are onsite and will proceed with a full inspection of the boat and then commence repairs, aiming to get her back on the water and heading West to cross The Transat CIC finish line before it closes on 20 May 2024.
We would like to thank you everyone for your messages of support. We will keep you up to date with the team’s progress in the coming days.
